New Year Resolutions may come in many ways. Some people promise to change a bad habit, like quitting smoking or eating less junk food. Others make a promise to develop a positive habit, such as starting an exercise program, volunteering in their community, or recycling more. 

The New Year's resolutions tradition dates back to 153 B.C. January was named for Janus, an early Roman legendary god. Janus has two faces— one facing ahead, the other looking backward. It allowed him to look back to the past and to the future. The Romans imagined Janus looking back into the old year on December 31 and moving forward into the new year.This has become a symbolic time for Romans to make new year resolutions and forgive past enemies for trouble.
The Romans also believed that in the previous year, Janus could forgive them for their misdeeds. The Romans would give gifts and make promises, hoping that this would be seen and rewarded by Janus in the next year.
And so the concept of New Year resolutions was born!

You would be surprised how often people set goals that aren't for themselves. A manager, spouse, or parental / peer pressure could dictate or coerce these goals.
While having some external support is nice, if you don't share the same passion, the resolution has a small chance of success and may even be dead upon arrival.
To do this, you should insure that the target you set is essential to you and to you alone, and that you have interest and gain in achieving the goal. It is these two things that will give the reason for taking action and willingness. This is also referred to as motivation!
2.     Now write down these goals
While having goals is great, documenting them in some way is critical. Here are six incentives to write down your objectives: they can be easily forgotten. While that may seem stupid, we are human, and it is easy to distract and forget that it is human.
It helps you to clarify what you want to achieve by writing down your resolutions. With your words, it encourages you to make decisions and to be specific.
Publishing sets aim, but action is needed to reach the resolution. It is a daily reminder to take steps to have a written account of your priorities.

Schedule a quarterly analysis of the "big picture" during each month's first week. This will serve as a meeting of planning to distribute smaller tasks and goals throughout the month to different weeks.
