What are your New Year Resolutions for 2020 ?
New Year Resolutions may come in many ways. Some people
promise to change a bad habit, like quitting smoking or eating less junk food.
Others make a promise to develop a positive habit, such as starting an exercise
program, volunteering in their community, or recycling more.
The New Year's resolutions tradition dates back
to 153 B.C. January was named for Janus, an early Roman legendary god. Janus
has two faces— one facing ahead, the other looking backward. It allowed him to
look back to the past and to the future. The Romans imagined Janus looking back
into the old year on December 31 and moving forward into the new year. This has
become a symbolic time for Romans to make new year resolutions and forgive past
enemies for trouble.
The Romans also believed that in the previous
year, Janus could forgive them for their misdeeds. The Romans would give gifts
and make promises, hoping that this would be seen and rewarded by Janus in the
next year.
And so the concept of New Year resolutions was
born!

So now that you have decided on your new year resolutions,
its time to take the next step and plan for a strategy that will help to stick
to your resolutions. So what should you do?
Read on …………
1. You
have a fix a goal that reminds you of your New year resolutions
You would be surprised how often people set
goals that aren't for themselves. A manager, spouse, or parental / peer
pressure could dictate or coerce these goals.
While having some external support is nice, if
you don't share the same passion, the resolution has a small chance of success
and may even be dead upon arrival.
To do this, you should insure that the target
you set is essential to you and to you alone, and that you have interest and
gain in achieving the goal. It is these two things that will give the reason
for taking action and willingness. This is also referred to as motivation!
2. Now
write down these goals
While having goals is great, documenting them
in some way is critical. Here are six incentives to write down your objectives:
they can be easily forgotten. While that may seem stupid, we are human, and it
is easy to distract and forget that it is human.
It helps you to clarify what you want to
achieve by writing down your resolutions. With your words, it encourages you to
make decisions and to be specific.
Publishing sets aim, but action is needed to
reach the resolution. It is a daily reminder to take steps to have a written
account of your priorities.
Written goals can act as a filter for what
opportunities to pursue and guide light. There are a million decisions to be
made on any given day.
3. Try
automation wherever possible
You would be surprised to know that modern day
technology has made it possible to remind you of your goals on the fly. You may
want to try the following tools/apps to help you:
Google Calendar: Set a recurring meeting tied
to your resolution, i.e. scheduling workout sessions at the gym.
Google Now: Personal assistant that provides
information as you need it.
Reminders (on iOS): Set up timed alerts for
tasks.
Boomerang for Gmail: Schedule reminder emails
to yourself (Freemium).
On top of these commonly used apps, there are
also “to-do list” and task management apps that have the ability to schedule
reminders and milestones. Here are a few popular choices:
- Asana
- Trello
- Todoist
- Microsoft To Do
- Omnifocus
- Things
4. Reflect
on your resolutions …. have you been truthful?
Now let’s remember that, if you don't
constantly talk about your goal, you won't go through it. Therefore, a daily
analysis is a crucial part of achieving your goal.
This analysis should be on a monthly basis at
least, but the more often the better.
Here's one way you can draw on your process in
target analysis.
Schedule a quarterly analysis of the "big
picture" during each month's first week. This will serve as a meeting of
planning to distribute smaller tasks and goals throughout the month to
different weeks.
To check progress on the monthly target, make a
weekly check-in.Set a daily callback to smaller activities of resolution. It
might seem a little crazy to think every day about your resolution
5. Do
not ever give up…. Keep your focus and be firm on your principles.
Do remember that a goof up is practically inescapable sooner or later, and you should not let this become a reason to surrender. At the point when it occurs, you should draw on your stores of self-conviction and quality, so fabricate these characteristics as frequently as possible.

Truly feel glad for your past accomplishments
and don't get disparaging of yourself. Individuals with higher confidence and
certainty are in a greatly improved situation to succeed, so quickly pardon
yourself and state "I'm beginning again now on my New Year resolutions for
2020
6. Finally,
tell your friends and family that you have accomplished your New year
resolutions
It's great to make a plan for yourself and
perhaps even write it down, but it's easy to forget or even neglect if no one
else cares about it. And no one will notice or care if you don't do this.
On the flip side, feel something different for
your counterparts who have decided to tell someone about their goal. We feel a
sense of responsibility and transparency now that they have gone public with
their target. Essentially, they're going to let everyone down if you don't
follow through.
The feeling of guilt is often more important
than self-motivation, crazy as it sounds. The consequence here is that the
people you interacted with will rejoice with you when you win! So, congratulations and wish you success in
your New Year 2020 resolutions.
